How to Choose the Perfect Fabric for Your Custom made T-Shirts

We find our Custom madeers in a bit of a dilemma when it comes to choosing the perfect fabric for their personalized T-shirts.

Here you will find a small breakdown of the different fabrics available in the market so that you can make a better decision the next time you go get your Custom made-printed T-shirt!

1. Cotton - Cotton can be a great choice of fabric for Custom made graphic tees as they are inexpensive, quite absorbent, and highly comfortable. Cotton is also suitable for people with sensitive skin. Well, if you get yourself a personalized T-shirt, it does need to be comfortable for you to be able to wear it whenever and wherever you want. However cotton is naturally wrinkly and this particular property makes it a little difficult to apply any printing method to it. However, if you are ordering in bulk, cotton might be a wise choice, considering heat press printing and screen printing work perfectly with cotton giving impeccable results to the design of your personalized T-shirt.

2. Polyester - The whole world knows that polyester is probably the best fabric for making activewear. If you are getting a Custom made graphic tee for your workout sessions, undoubtedly polyester is the best choice! However polyester is expensive in comparison to cotton and like cotton, not all printing methods work well with polyester. Sublimation printing works best with polyester, but in the case of blended fabrics, it must contain at least 70% polyester for the printing to work out well! Bonus? Certain categories of polyester give a certain level of protection against UV rays!

3. Rayon - Everyone likes silk! Right? Silk is also very expensive. Right? Thus there comes the cheaper affordable alternative to silk which is Rayon. It is known for its property of being soft and it is cheaper as it is made out of cellulose fibers derived from wood pulp, including spruce, pine, bamboo, eucalyptus, or cotton. However, there are a few cons to using this fabric. Rayon is a bit wrinkly which causes people to handle the fabric a bit carefully. Moreover, with rayon, it is important to dry-wash it as it can stretch after multiple washes. So, if cotton is not something you are into and if you are on a tight budget, you could definitely go for rayon to print your design on it and make it into a beautiful personalized T-shirt!

4. Hemp - We see a few of you smirking as you read about this. Well, smirk away! Just know that hemp can be an excellent choice when it comes to printing your design on your personalized T-shirt. Once you have designed your T-shirt online, make sure to check if your design has intricate details, as that will decide what printing method to use on this fabric. If your design is general, something large, or one that does not have many details, screen printing can be an excellent option to print the designs on your Custom made hemp T-shirt. However, if your design has intricate details with nooks and corners, you might need to get the printing process done via DTG since it will pick up even the smallest of details from your design and accurately print them on your Custom made T-shirt!
